About Cory Calvin
I was a successful corporate executive with Fortune 500 firms in New York, St. Petersburg (FL), and Chicago for over 16 years. After years of struggling to answer the adage "find a job you love so that it doesn't feel like work", I finally listened to my gut and realized that I was not living the life that I had wanted to live. In 2017, I built up enough confidence to leave my job and career to travel nonstop around the world.
While traveling to all seven continents, I discovered my higher purpose in life: to inspire people to become their best self. My mission is to inspire one million people by the time I reach the age of 50 (I just started at 40 in 2019). Check out my personal website www.corycalvin.com to see how I am doing. And if I have inspired you, be sure to add yourself to my ongoing inspiration counter.
I now lead a location independent lifestyle. While traveling through remote Southeast Asia, I completed my first book "I Almost Became Me: A Memoir". And in June 2019, I launched a transformational travel company to inspire others to listen to their gut and follow their passions in life.

Hello, everyone. I am Cory Calvin, and I'm so grateful you're here. You know, I'm thrilled to welcome you to my podcast. One of the biggest reasons I started this podcast is to share incredible stories of people who are making a huge impact on the world. You know, I created this podcast to inspire to uplift and provide ways that can help you live your best life. Lately, I've heard a lot of people on social media or from comments on my blog's say things like, I feel stuck or I wish I could live my dream life or I'm unhappy with my current situation. Or even I don't know what I want to do with the rest of my life. You know, I've been there. I know what those feel like on this podcast. I'm going to interview people who are brave and blazing their own trail. The people I will speak with had the same fears, the same questions, you know. But they learned how to break through. They've actually begun to take a leap of have have made the leap. I will interview people like me who have left corporate America to begin a business from scratch. You know, these people are now living out their dreams. Maybe some are traveling around the world living on the nomadic lifestyle, or they've created a nonprofit or they're just doing something that they've always wanted to do. They're facing all these fears, and you know, they're earning an income to support their new lifestyle in their new life. I want to bring stories to life of ordinary people, like each of us who are now creating extraordinary success. You can have this too. My podcast will be different from other podcasts. You have listened to, you know, many podcasts, interview leaders that have already risen to the top of their organization or their field or have created successful businesses and are breaking through in a big way. Those people are so interesting to listen to and learn from how they did what they did and to know the tips and strategies of how to get there, you know? But I'm out there finding people who have begun their personal transformation and are on the cusp of breaking through. I will interview these people so you can learn what they're doing, why they're doing it and even how they they're doing it. They will provide the secrets to their success and even actionable strategies to help you live your best life to help inspire you. It's almost like your weekly dose of inspiration. Now that I've explained why I'm creating this podcast, let me share briefly about about me and you know where I came from and my journey. You know, my journey hasn't always been easy, and many of you can probably relate to what I'm about to say. I'm a small town boy, a group in Ohio. I landed a six figure job on Wall Street right out of college in 2001. I went on to get my MBA and work my way up the corporate ladder with a Fortune 50 company. I had it all. I had a very comfortable life. I was living in a high rise condo with a doorman on the Upper West Side in New York City. I was a corporate strategy executive pitching global ideas to the CEO of Pepsico. But along the way, this entire 16 year corporate journey, you know, I was going down this journey, but something was missing in my gut. I realized that there was something just not right. It was my own happiness. It seemed that I was living for this image. I was living for the paycheck with lifestyle that I had, but I wasn't happy. And on this at the same time, I had no idea what I wanted to do or or what would actually make me happy. You know, all of my training wasn't business. And that's all I really knew. I didn't know what else I could do. Or quite frankly, why was I on this planet? What was my higher purpose? I had no idea. You know, at that moment I had a choice to make. I can continue living this lifestyle. Or I could go and take a pause and try to figure out what wasn't my purpose in life. Why was I here? So in October of 2017 I decided to take a sabbatical from work and begin traveling the world. And that's when I got bit by the travel bug. And you know what? I never stopped traveling. I actually never went back to Pepsico. And I've been traveling the world ever since. And I visited all seven continents. I visited over 50 countries. I'm still going, you know. But the best part of all this is that along the way, I discovered my higher purpose. You know, I realized that my happiest moments are watching other people break through and helping them discover why they're here. My higher purpose is to inspire others to do just that, to become their best authentic self every day, to not live a life for someone else like I was doing or for a paycheck off the benefits, or for waiting for that one day toe happen where I can finally do that thing that I want to dio, but instead to go live out that passion and with purpose every day, you know? And since I left my job in corporate America that, you know, three years ago, I've begun to remake myself from scratch. I created a travel blogger that has helped hundreds of other travelers. I wrote my first book that became a number one bestseller on Amazon. I combine my passion for for travel with my higher purpose. And I've created a travel company that leads retreats around the world to help others find and follow their passion. I'm currently right writing a second book about this transformational experience. I've had to help other people. And now I'm creating this podcast to inspire others like you. You know, I hope you enjoy this podcast. One thing that I've really worked hard on over the past many years is to not be perfect. You know, I thought about, you know, getting a whole list of people to lined up for this for this podcast, to releasing something every week. But I haven't done that. I'm only going to release a couple interviews I had at the beginning. And, you know, there's nothing in life is perfect. So I'm just gonna go with it. I'm gonna you know, any any podcast or any great podcaster that ever started off, you know, was never incredibly great. They had to start somewhere. And you know again. I'm gonna try to have a weekly show. But for the first several months, I may just have one a month and I will get there. I will eventually get there. And it's not going to be perfect in the conversations that I'm going toe have with these people are not going to be edited. I'm not gonna edit anything. It's going to be raw. And you might hear uncensored emotion. You might hear awkward silence or technical malfunctions, right? That's all part of the show. That's all part of life, right? There's nothing no such thing as a perfect situation. You know, we have everything that's produced and created, but you're gonna get a raw show for me. So it's a work in progress, and I'll continue to get better. But I'm happy to have you right now and to share these inspirational messages. So, you know, enclosing. I hope you enjoy this podcast. I hope you subscribe to it to get this deliver directly to devote to device when new episodes air released. I would love for you to share this with your friends if you liked it. So I would love for you know, you to continue listening and, you know, here we go. I'm getting ready to start and kick off the next two episodes. It's my hope that you'll be inspired in some way for weeks, months and years to come. Thanks for listening.
